Wat is een PEST analyse? Beschrijving

De PEST analyse is een raamwerk dat strategieadviseurs gebruiken om de externe macro-omgeving te analyseren waarin een bedrijf opereert. PEST is een acroniem voor de volgende factoren:

• Politiek

• Economisch

• Sociaal

• Technologisch

De PEST factoren spelen een belangrijke rol in de waardecreatie kansen van een strategie. Nochtans bevinden zij zich gewoonlijk buiten de invloedsfeer van het bedrijf en zij moeten normaal als hetzij bedreigingen of kansen worden beschouwd. Bedenk dat macro-economische factoren kunnen verschillen per continent, land of zelfs gebied, dus normaal gesproken zou een PEST analyse per land moeten worden uitgevoerd.

In de lijst hieronder staan voorbeelden van elk van deze factoren.

Het voltooiing van een PEST Analyse is vrij eenvoudig, en kan worden gedaan via workshops die brainstormingstechnieken gebruiken. Het gebruik van PEST analyse kan variëren van: bedrijfs en strategische planning, marketing planning, business- en productontwikkeling, en onderzoeksrapporten.

Varianten van PEST Analyse

Soms worden uitgebreidere vormen gebruikt, zoals SLEPT Analyse (plus Wettelijk - Legal) of STEEPLE Analyse: Sociale/demografische, Technologische, Economische, Milieu (natuurlijk - Environment), Politieke, Wettelijke (Legal) en Ethische factoren. Ook kunnen Geografische factoren van belang zijn.
