Periodic Health Check of Organization and Turnaround Management
In my opinion the sickness of the organization can be pre determined if a health check is periodically done.
We use the profit pool technique to determine the robustness of each profit centre and we also determine the future potential within the visibility, availability.

Check Health, But not Only the Profitability
I agree that sometimes periodic health checks may reveal the need for a turnaround. But it may not do so in all cases, as the changes that occur during periods of checking may not be big enough to catch attention. One has to take long term health checks.
Performing only a profit check may sometimes become the cause of such an emergency situation. If the result is too close or if the check neglects divisions that are making less profit, then it may eventually burden the other units and cause them to become less profit making divisions. A realistic danger.

Do the Diagnostic Research with Internal Resources
I appreciate your comment. Basically, periodical diagnostic scans of the organization must be part of the system. This will update every segment of the organization on the work program as planned.
Hiring of consultancy or a surgical approach should be considered only as the last recourse. Any intrinsic hiatus and root causes of problems can be better appreciated by internal resources that are exposed to the normal organizational system.

Holistic Approach Needed for Health Check
@Jagdish B Acharya: well said! For diagnostic and checking the health of the institution, it must be done on a holistic approach, not by a piece meal. Every segment has its on performance which normally comprehend and dependent on its counterpart action. Initially, we might be perfect on one side but a failure on the other side. The need for a turnaround must be done in a complete set.
