5 C's in Developing Countries: Add Corruption as 6th C?
In terms of relationship marketing, the 5 Cs come in very handy. It has been used and implemented in various successful businesses all across the world.
However when we take account of developing economies, another C comes into picture which is corruption as the people sitting on the other side of the desk require bribes.
Do you think it is a proper strategy - in order to overcome such difficulties - to take this C into consideration as well?

Extra C not Needed?
Could the additional C (of Corruption) be already included in the 5th one (Context)? We can see it as a cultural or legal factor...

C for Corruption Must Not Be a Marketing Strategy
Actually the 5 Cs are meant for empowering the marketing process and place one's business on a certain position in terms of market share. These are for identifying the customer needs, improve the company's strengths and ultimately capture some portion of the total market.
As far corruption is concerned, it has become an influential element of the socio-political environment. So, we should attempt to address it in the form of challenges. When one deals with corruption, or with the person causing corruption, we ourselves feel corrupted. Normally, the staff deputed to pay bribes adds his share also, e.g. medical representatives often sell the samples of medicines what his company provided to him to distribute among doctors.
Taking the extra C as corruption will only increases the cost of marketing. Thus, corruption should be reduced as far as possible and if needed should be dealt with in the form of business promotion and not directly in the form of bribes.
Finally: the denial by one company to pay bribes boosts the morale of others.

Include Corruption as the 6th C in Marketing Strategy
Corruption is truly endemic. It is done so openly now.
I believe it should be included as the 6th C... I have noticed it in my country, where some of our laws are old and outdated. When it happens, government now scrabbles to rewrite new laws...
The 6th C should be included in all management courses. Creating the awareness may help some people to understand the evil of corruption.
In this world the motto of many people now is: "me, myself and I and to hell with everybody else".
