ICH Q9 as a Universal Approach to Food Supply Chain Risk Management
Nchedo Obi-Igweilo , Student (Other), Ireland

Managing global food supply chain through a systematic method/framework.

It will be helpful if a systematic approach would be applied in global food supply chain management so as to have a universal standard, rather than national or regional based approaches that exist at present.
The food supply chain has become the most vulnerable and fragile of all supply chains. Globalization has aided increased risks in supply chains, especially in the food area.
While doing research on the Quality Risk Management ICH Q9 document I found it to be a good framework that could be applied in the food industry supply chain risk management. It is both a systematic and easy to understand and builds on well known tools such as HACCP, GMP, GAP, HAZOD etc. It has been successfully used in the pharmaceutical industries.
