Association is key to change of organisation and teacher's role plays vital in change.

Association of people with certain qualities will bring about the required change in right direction.What are the qualities that an ideal teacher need to possess?The qualities which an ideal teacher need to possess have been enumerated in ancient wisdom(Tantra sara) and they are
1. The one who has control over mind and internal instruments(intellect, ego and mind stuff)
2. Thorough control over senses(organs of knowledge and organs of action)
3. Hailing from a family endowed with purity, nobility, generosity
4. Humility
5. Putting on pure and clean dress
6. Polite, embodiment of noble nature
7. Well established in truth
8. Purity
9. Able, competent, efficient and expert in removing doubts
10. Endowed with good intelligence
11. Fulfilling the requirements of the stage of life
12. Contemplative
13. Knower of technique to realize the goal
14. Well versed in theoretical and practical knowledge
15. Power to discipline others
16. Ability to forgive and lead students in the correct path with love and compassion
The above were the skills possessed by the teachers of the yore. How many of the above skills are in possession of the current faculty in colleges and the value given by the students where they are considered as customers is questionable? Taking the feedback of the students on the faculty may be useful, however decision making based on the student feedback alone is questionable.
A teacher with the above qualities and students with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and ability to digest difficult concepts would be an ideal combination to have in order to have effective transfer of the required knowledge for change to occur. Competency building from teachers side and from the students side need to considered for effective change to occur.Being a role model teacher need to be the one who has developed both the teacher's and student's qualities in him
At present since west is having good impact on knowledge transfer, I believe that knowingly or unknowingly west is pursuing the above said qualities to a considerable extent.
