The Role of Functional Satisfaction in Employee Motivation
Dr Hussein Laqwer, CEO, Saudi Arabia

During only three months, certain measures on motivation of employees gives rapid results.

When the board of Directors of the hospital requested me to give them advice on the restructuring of the hospital plan of work to improve the performance of the staff, it did not require a lot of time to come to the essential of the problem in this institution, which was the absence of the motivation to work and lack of functional satisfaction, which reached more than 90% in respect of salaries with lower rates in the matters of housing, transportation, and vacations.
The first goal in the temporary work plan proposed by me to the Board of Directors was to take a number of measures designed to achieve functional satisfaction among employees in the hospital.
During the first month of the plan review of the salaries of a number of employees does not exceed 20% was been reevaluated, others were given vacations and other were given new status in the hospital, these measures created a new spirit of work and gave the others who were not reevaluated hope that the administration is moving to review the status of all staff in the hospital.
Results: After a month on these measures, the activity of the hospital jumped by 22% in comparison with the same month of last year and followed by 34% in the next month in comparison with same month of last year, which confirms the importance of working on the issue of functional satisfaction in order to retain staff and keeping the spirit of loyality to any institution.
