How the individual learning process works. Some experiences and advice

Learning scholars define learning as a relatively permanent change on the behavior of a person that comes from experience. Organizations need to instill learning context, if they need to adapt to the changes in the environment.
As a lecturer, I have been observing the activities of my students and the learning process for the purpose of describing it and properly utilizing it. Some of the main components of learning that I found effective were:
1. Teach students how to learn: naturally, we teachers come to class and deliver what ever we had prepared and expect student to learn. Here, I believe we need to understand our delivery system, and on the bases of that we can spare the first one or two lectures on teaching them how to better learn from our lectures.
2. Encourage students to compete with themselves: spirit of competing with yourself must be instilled on the mind of students. Students must feel the urge of learning; if a person knowledge is the same as last year, he lost one year.
3. Continuous Learning: the motto for every learner should be "every person is a teacher and every situation is a subject". It is the persons ability to leverage on the subject and teacher that matters. This principle will help students to explore the various aspects related the subject matter...
I would like to hear your views on my opinion, there are more finding to come.
