why are marketers ignoring ethics?
Malachy, Member, Business Consultant, Nigeria

i think that because many now go into marketing for the purpose of survival that professionalism, they tend to throw ethics to the trash cans and do just anything to pull their sales through.

a chat with consumers today, either of tangible goods or services, you see dissatisfied people. it either what they were given was less than satisfactory or gave no succor at all. why is that? these customers now see marketers as liars and that's what they have branded anybody who has anything to showcase no matter how highly placed you think you are. and God save if are from a company that sounds close to such that had 'cheated' them. where are the ethics of the profession? is it that the practitioners do not know or that they are bent on discrediting the profession and other practitioners? are there no regulatory bodies or is it that the profession is now a free for all where standard and integrity no longer count? who is suppossed to be part of this profession? what qualifications should he/she have before joining? how can the practitioners be made answerable for their actions. how can these 'bad eggs' be taken out of the system? or is it time for the sincere and genuine one to look for another profesion?
