generational gap and retention

Will this gap ever be narrowed because closer seems impossible

Most organizations are struggling with the retention of the Y generation and yet nothing seems to be done to address the real issue here. In my opinion the main issue is, the baby boom and X generations are looking at the Y generations as aliens that are coming in with high expectations and underlying tactics of take over! It is understandable that the X generation and babyboomers are skilled and have lots of experience while the Y generation come with knowledge. Instead of the two meeting each other half way, there is frustration from the side of the Y generation because information gets hidden from them due to fear of take over. This end up in them moving from one company to another. Unfortunately as they move on their pay get inceased to a point that they end up in high managerial positions, we then end up with a grooup of managers/leaders who do not have skills to manage/lead and in return they become defensive and aggressive. For as long as this continues, we will never be able to retain these guys and it is worrying!!!
