Leaders Should Be Emotionally Intelligent
AIDA ACUBA, Member, Professor, Philippines

Some brilliant leaders failed on their leadership in an organization because they lack emotional intelligence.

Sometimes we wonder why there are some brilliant leaders who failed on their leadership though they have exerted much effort on their job to get the best results. Usually, it is the average leaders who satisfactorily succeed on their leadership. What do you think is the reason behind the brilliant leaders failure and the average leaders success on their leadership? This is one thing i realized why brilliant leaders sometimes failed and mostly the average leaders succeed. It is because the brilliant leaders lack or have low emotional intelligence while the average leaders have or have usually high emotional intelligence.
I believe that emotional intelligence is very important for leaders to possess. Since brilliant leaders are usually idealistic and dominating, they would really implement what they believe is right and a must without considering how their subordinates feel about it. They seemed to be inconsiderate as long as they know what they are doing. However, the average leaders would usually take into consideration the feelings of their subordinates and become empathetic to them. By showing their empathy and concern to their subordinates, they would win the loyalty and genuine cooperation of each subordinate and so, hand in hand they would work together to achieve their desired ends.
Emotional intelligence really counts for the success of every leader in an organization.
