Public Service as a Public Trust
Anastacio G. Marundan, Member, Manager, Philippines

Public Service therefore must have as its ingredients, the T.R.U.S.T. concepts and its acronym, political will, equal application of principled, firm and sincere decision and action to be worthy of a Public Trust..

Public Service (PS) being a Public Trust (PT) should be: Trustworthy and Transparent, Responsive, Untiring, Selfless Service, and Timely. PS in government is governed by laws, policies and regulations. We could not go wrong when we, as government officials abide by them and be firmed in its implementation. In the same manner and in a larger sense, political leaders in a supporting role by way of providing directions to government institutions should have political will to govern and inspire the people to believe and follow and the public servants to perform without fear and favor.

We, in our respective roles as heads of office and unit heads, the practice of the principle of equal application of the policies, rules and regulations of the office to the employees and clients/stakeholders is indispensable. In so doing, order and peace in the workplace will surely be in-placed.

Employees and stakeholders may see strictness in management but given the time, what their minds and eyes would see is the "light at the end of the tunnel", otherwise, beyond them is "darkness in the night". How we act today determines the directions we are leading tomorrow. As a famous song of our time, runs a line that says, " do you know, where you are going to?"
