Advisors to Resolve or Avoid Issues
Trevor Browne, Director, Curacao

Should you choose an advisor who is good at resolving issues or one good at avoiding issues.

Choosing an advisor depends on the current state of a situation. If there are issues to be resolved you should choose advisors who are good at resolving issues. Legal, financial and labour disputes generally require the services respectively of a lawyer, an account and a labour mediator. All three require skills at resolving issues.

Advice for legal, financial and and labour related matters to avoid future issues, should be delegated to advisors adept at avoiding issues in the future. This role should generally be given to consultants, experts and advisors who know how to avoid issues.

Lawyers and accountants generally are "after the fact" professions where their expertise is required for past events or transactions.
