CORRUPTION INVOLVING ACCOUNTANTS
chisha ntungo , Accountant, Zambia

IN MOST CORRUPTION CASE THAT TAKES PLACE IN AN ORGANISATION,THE ACCOUNTANT HAS AN INPUT WHY?

Due to lack of good working ethics and resposibility, most accountants are involved in corruption cases due to the fact that thy fail to uphold their ethicsand integrety. Much is left to be desired in the world today where, instead of protecting the organisations resources, accountants have given in to accept being intimited by their superiors to involve themselves in stealing from there employers. in one article by peter jones, fraud and corruption in public service he said usualy where there is curruption the books of accounts are fogded or left uncomplete. now who does these books and checking? of course it is an accountant. this give you as to why i say the accountant is ussualy involved. Why do we say the accountant in manly ivolved in these practices of corrution? Most of the transctions of corruption are not questioned before they are dully authorised by the accountant for fear of their jobs. However this should not be the case the accountants stood by their ethics and became more responsible to inquire the authenticity of every transaction that comes to their desk. They have to stand the ground and say no to any suspeciuos transaction if no proper reason is given. any views on this article will highly be appreciated
