Success to Significance
Charles Tombazian, Member, Management Consultant, United States

What 21st Century organizations are built upon.

After nearly 4 years of global decline, enlightened leaders are realizing there is no going back to the “way we did it before.” The rules of business have changed forever! They are looking more European in nature. Sustainability, thick vs. thin value, workforce diversity, strategic social responsibility, work-life balance, happiness and fun, authenticity and transparency are what 21st Century organizations are built upon.

The New Normal embraces the notion that people are starved for meaning. If we want to engage our people’s minds and hearts, we must infuse more meaning into the work and workplace. This will engage and inspire our employees to give their best, spend discretionary effort toward meaningful company and personal goals, and feel fulfilled from their contribution to a purpose bigger than themselves and their organization.

In today's ultra-competitive world, where products and services are commoditized at alarming rates, the only way to separate yourself and your organization from the pack is to consistently “out-behave the competition.” You must find ways to deliver extraordinary customer experiences, implement breakthrough strategies, and create powerful cultures that foster authentic and collaborative relationships. Doing so will generate great rewards. For as Geoffrey Moore articulates so well, to truly differentiate and achieve competitive advantage, an organization must go down a path far enough where its competitors either can't follow or won't. (paraphrased references from Dealing with Darwin and Crossing the Chasm)
