Doing right by people
Frederick L. Robinson, Student (MBA), United States

A good name is worth more than silver and gold.

I believe in treating people with respect, in all aspects, whether it's business or personal. What goes around always comes around, good or bad, so I make it a point to do right by all people with patience and understanding; yet I like to get the job done. I believe that being an effective leader not only requires the strategic execution of organizational goals, but being able to effectively communicate with people respectfully. Leadership isn't dictatorship, as each person within an organization is a team member, working together to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. People nowadays don't ask for much, other than the obvious job security and simple gratification for a job well done. Positive reinforcement coupled with supportive assistance often fuels motivation that stems beyond short-term goals. I believe that by taking care of people, employees, in these areas, is what in turn motivates employees to do the same for customers, filtering the same results and attitudes upwards to stakeholders. Long-term success and profitability is always the goal for any business, yet it's the people within that business who make the difference.
