Operation Excellence
Carmelo L. Neri, Member, Consultant, Philippines

Operation Excellence improves methods, productivity, human relation and reduces wastes.

In my 32 years of management practice, I am surprised why companies spend only few man-hours looking into ways in reducing wastes. Companies are more concerned in volume sales increase to make it more profitable than reducing wastes. I believe that if operation excellence is to be thought in college this method could be easily implemented in any organization, we will have a society who is wastes conscious, therefore we will be able to manage well our depleeting natural resources. To give you an idea of common wastes which management tolerates: 1. Excess lighting system. 2. Excess water pressure. 3. Excess manpower in work stations. 4. Used of in-effecient equipments. 5. Over and under capacity equipments. 6. Oversize work area. 7. others. I can name a lot of wastes but nothing is being done about it. I hope through this forum we will be able to help the next coming generation.
