4가지 정렬에 대한 관점

1. 전략 실행. 이 관점은 사업전략을 조직설계의 선택과 IT 인프라스트럭처(전략경영에 대한 전통적이고 위계적인 관점)의 논리 양자의 추진체로 본다. 최고경영진은 전략을 수립하고 IT 경영진은 단지 전략의 실행자이다. [화살표 1]

2. 기술 잠재력. 이 관점 역시 사업전략을 추진체로 본다. 그러나 이 관점은 선택된 사업전략을 지원하기 위 IT 전략의 수립과 이에 상응하는 필요한 IT 인프라스트럭처와 프로세스에 대한 세부조건과 관련되어 있다. 최고경영진은 선택된 사업전략을 가장 잘 지원하는 IT 전략에 속하는 논리와 선택을 조절하는 기술적 비전을 제공해야 한다. IT 매니저의 역할은 테크놀로지의 건축자 역할이 되어야 한다. IT 매니저는 IT 전략의 외부 구성요소(범위, 역량, 거버넌스 등)와 일치하는 필요한 IT 인프라를 효율적이고 효과적으로 설계하고 실행해야 한다. [화살표 2]

3. 경쟁적 잠재력. 이 관점은 새롭게 나타나는 IT 능력을 활용하여

   • 새로운 제품과 서비스(사업범위 등)와
   • 전략의 핵심속성(차별적 역량 등)에 영향을 미치고
   • 새로운 형태의 관계(비즈니스 거버넌스 등)의 개발하는데 관심이 있다.

   비즈니즈 전략을 주어진 것(또는 조직변화의 제약조건)으로 보는 앞의 두가지 관점과는 달리, 이 관점은 새로운 IT 능력을 통해 사업전략의 수정이 가능하다. 이러한 관점이 성공적이기 위한 최고경영진의 특정한 역할은 사업에 대한 비전제시를 하는 것으로, 새로운 IT 역량과 기능, IT 시장에서의 변화하는 지배패턴이 어떻게 사업전략에 영향을 미칠 수 있는지를 명확하게 표현하는 것이다. IT 매니저는촉매제로서 역할하는 것이다. 그는 IT 환경의 추세를 확인하고 해석하는 것이다. 그렇게 함으로써 IT 매너저는 사업매니저가 IT 관점에서 잠재적인 기회와 위협을 이해하도록 지원한다. [화살표 3]

4. 서비스 수준. 이 관점은 한 조직내에 어떻게 세계적인 IT 조직을 구축하는지에 초점을 맞춘다. 이러한 관점에서 비즈니스 전략가의 역할은 간접적이다. 이 관점은 IT 자원의 효과적인 사용을 확신하고 최종소비자 집단의 급속하게 변화하고 성장하는 요구에 대응하는데에 있어 필요하지만 충분하지는 않은 것으로 여겨지고 있다. 이러한 관점이 성공적이기 위해 최고경영진은 우선순위의 결정자의 역할을 해야 한다. 최고경영진은 조직내부와 IT 시장(합작회사, 라이센싱, 소수투자자 등의 관점에서)에서 희소한 자원을 어떻게 배분해야할 지를 결정한다. IT 매니저는 최고경영진이 제시한 운영지침 내에서 내부 사업이 성공적으로 수행될 수 있도록 특정한 과제를 갖고 비즈니스 리더의 역할을 한다. [화살표 4]
