Para Peter Senge (1990), el cambio es trabajo en equipo y el aprendizaje es cambio. Así, es posible que las organizaciones aprendan para cambiar porque “en lo más profundo, somos todos los principiantes”. En su libro “la Quinta disciplina”, Senge desea destruir la ilusión que el mundo está creado de fuerzas separadas, sin relación. Cuando no nos rendimos a esta ilusión, podemos entonces construir el “aprendizaje organizacional”, esto se da en las organizaciones donde la gente amplía continuamente su capacidad de crear resultados que ella desea de verdad, donde los nuevos y expansivos patrones del pensamiento se consolidan, donde la aspiración colectiva se fija libremente, y donde la gente está aprendiendo continuamente cómo aprender junta. Las gerentes deben aprender para detectar siete de organización “aprendiendo inhabilidades” y para utilizar el “Cinco Disciplinas” como antídotos a ellos.
Las Cinco Disciplinas de Senge
Los cinco componentes del modelo de Senge son:
Pensamiento sistémico. La disciplina integradora (la Quinta) funde las otras 4 en un cuerpo coherente de teoría y práctica.
Maestría personal. La gente debe mirar su vida y su trabajo tal como un artista miraría una obra de arte.
Modelos mentales. Las asunciones profundamente arraigadas o las imágenes mentales que influencian la forma cómo entendemos el mundo y cómo tomamos acción.
Construcción de una visión compartida. Si hay una visión genuina, la gente sobresale y aprende, no porque ella tiene que hacerlo, sino porque ella lo desea.
Aprendizaje en equipo. los miembros del equipo participan en un diálogo verdadero. Suspenden sus asunciones.
Todas estas 5 Disciplinas se deben emplear en una búsqueda interminable para ampliar la capacidad de la organización de crear su futuro. Las Organizaciones que Aprenden son esas organizaciones que pueden ir más allá del aprendizaje de supervivencia, para realizar aprendizaje generativo: una forma de aprendizaje que realza la capacidad de crear.
