Just-in-Time

Wat is Just-in-time? Definitie

Just-in-time werd in de vroege jaren '70 gepionierd door Taiichi Ohno in Japan bij het autoassemblage bedrijf Toyota. Het is een filosofie voor het organiseren van productie. JIT vermindert afval door slechts onderdelen te leveren wanneer het assemblageproces ze vereist. Centraal bij JIT staat de kanban, het Japanse woord voor kaart. Deze kanban kaart wordt verzonden naar het magazijn om een standaardhoeveelheid onderdelen aan te vragen als en wanneer zij in het assemblage/productieproces zijn opgebruikt. JIT vereist precisie, aangezien de juiste onderdelen "just-in-time" op de juiste plaats moeten aankomen (de werkpositie aan de lopende band). Het wordt hoofdzakelijk gebruikt voor hoogvolume continue productieprocessen.


Geschiedenis van Just-in-Time

Historisch, kwam de JIT filosofie uit twee andere dingen voort:

  1. De wens van Japan om zijn productiekwaliteit te verbeteren. Op dat ogenblik, hadden Japanse bedrijven een slechte reputatie wat betreft de kwaliteit van produceren en autoproductie in het bijzonder.
  2. Kaizen-filosofie, ook een Japanse methode van ononderbroken verbetering.

Het just-in-time raamwerk beschouwt voorraden als een slecht excuus voor slechte planning, inflexibiliteit, verkeerde machines, kwaliteitsproblemen, enz. Het doel van JIT is de reactie op klanten te versnellen en tegelijkertijd de voorraden te minimaliseren. Voorraden helpen om snel te antwoorden op veranderende klanteneisen, maar kosten onvermijdelijk geld en verhogen het benodigde werkkapitaal.


In 1990 schreef James Womack een boek genoemd de "The Machine That Changed The World", waarin hij de term "Lean Produktie" introduceerde. Ook kunt u het volgende woord aantreffen: „Lean Production“. De principes achter deze aanpakken verschillen niet wezenlijk van de technieken die door Ohno in Toyota werden ontwikkeld.


Aandachtsgebieden van Just-in-Time

De typische aandachtsgebieden van de implementaties van JIT omvatten:

  • Vermindering van de voorraad.
  • Kleinere productiepartijen en partijgrootte.
  • Kwaliteitsbeheersing.
  • Vermindering ven de complexiteit en transparantie.
  • Vlakke organisatiestructuur en delegatie.
  • Minimalisering van het afval.

Extern uitgebreide Just-in-Time

Door de komst van Internet en van Supply Chain Planning software, hebben bedrijven ondertussen Just-in-time productie tot buiten de bedrijfgrenzen uitgebreid. Door van hun leveranciers te eisen om slechts voorraad aan de fabriek te leveren wanneer deze voor assemblage nodig is, maakt JIT productie-, ordering- en leveringprocessen nog sneller, flexibeler en efficiënter. Op deze wijze, worden Demand (Vraag) Netwerken gevormd, of Electronische Supply Chains.
