¿qué es el Justo a Tiempo (JIT)? Definición

El Just-in-time (Justo a Tiempo) fue iniciado por Taiichi Ohno en Japón en las plantas de ensambleje de Toyota a principios de los años 70. Es una filosofía de organización industrial.   El JIT elimina el desperdicio proveyendo repuestos sólo cuando el proceso de ensamblaje lo requiere. En el corazón del JIT descansa el kanban, la palabra japonesa que significa tarjeta. Esta tarjeta kanban se envía al almacén para solicitar una cantidad estándar de piezas a medida que ellas van a ser utilizadas en el ensamblaje/ proceso industrial. El JIT requiere la precisión, pues las piezas correctas deben llegar “Justo a Tiempo” la posición correcta (estación de trabajo en la planta de fabricación). Se utiliza sobre todo para procesos industriales repetitivos de grandes cantidades de producción.


Historia del Justo a Tiempo

Históricamente, la filosofía del JIT se presentó debido a dos motivos:

  1. Deseo de Japón para mejorar su calidad de la producción. En aquel momento, las compañías japonesas tenían una mala reputación de calidad industrial y de la industria automovilistica en particular.
  2. Kaizen, también un método japonés de mejoramiento contínuo.

El marco del Justo a Tiempo ve en los inventarios como una pobre excusa para un mal planeamiento, inflexibilidad, maquinaria incorrecta, problemas de la calidad, etc. La meta del JIT es acelerar la respuesta al cliente mientras que se disminuyen los inventarios al mismo tiempo. Los Inventarios ayudan a responder rápidamente a las demandas cambiantes de los cliente, pero inevitablemente cuestan dinero y aumentan el capital de trabajo necesario.


En 1990, James Womack escribió un libro llamado “La Máquina que cambió al Mundo”, introduciendo la terminología “Lean Manufacturing (Producción exacta)”. También usted puede encontrar el término: “Producción sencilla”.


Áreas de atención del Just-in-time (Justo a Tiempo)

Las áreas típicas de atención al momento de poner en práctica el JIT, incluyen:

  • Reducción del Inventario.
  • Mas pequeños de lotes y turnos de producción.
  • Control de calidad.
  • Reducción de la complejidad y transparencia.
  • Estructura de organización más plana y delegación.
  • Minimización del desperdicio.

Just-in-time (Justo a Tiempo) Externo extendido

Con la llegada del Internet y el software de Programación de la cadena logística, las compañías han ampliado mientras tanto, el JIT fuera de las fronteras de la compañía. Exigiendo de sus proveedores entregar inventario a la fábrica solamente cuando ha necesitado para la asamblea, haciendo industrial del JIT, ordenando y los procesos de la entrega incluso más rápidos, más flexibles y más eficientes. De esta manera, se están formando Redes Integradas de Abastecimiento (redes de demanda) o Cadenas Logísticas electrónicas.
