人力资本指数（HCI）是由Watson Wyatt发明的用来计算人力资本和股东价值相关性的一个方法。

Watson Wyatt开发了一系列量度标准，来定量分析人力资源政策、实务对股东价值的影响。

根据那些量度标准，为每一个被调查的公司分配一个人力资本指数值，就能够得出关于股东价值的相关结论。 其基本规律是，人力资源实务表现越好，公司的股东价值就越高。

换句话说， 人力资本指数表示，如果公司的人力资本管理得好，它的股东回报也会相应较高。

人力资本指数公式

人力资本指数的计算要用到一些客观的财务数据，包括市场价值、3年或5年的股东总报酬率（TRS）以及托宾值——一种比率，经济学家用它来计算企业超越其实物资产创造价值的能力。 这就要借助一些标准化或非标准化的数据库来得到的公共数据，通过它们即可了解所需财务信息。

要探明公司的人力资本与价值创造之间的关系，还要运用一系列的多次回归分析，通过这些分析计算，就能够得到人力资本与股东价值之间的清晰关系。 据研究，多达30项人力资源实务与30%的市场价值增减变化相关。 每一个公司的HCI值在0-100之间， 0代表人力资本管理最差，100则代表人力资本管理最为理想。
