Orsak och verkan i Teorin om begränsningar

Det centrala med TOC-konceptet är bekännelsen till orsak och verkan. Jämför: Orsak- och Verkansdiagram (Fiskbensdiagram) - Ishikawa. Tankeprocesser kring TOC ger oss en serie av steg som kombinerar orsak-verkan och vår erfarenhet och intuition till att erhålla kunskap. TOC är en verifierbar filosofi. Genom att veta, hur vi bör tänka, kan vi bättre förstå världen runt omkring oss; genom bättre förståelse kan vi förbättra.
 

Organisationer är komplexa nät av personer, utrustning, metoder, material och mått. Denna detaljkomplexitet är illa nog. Och lägg därtill den dynamiska komplexiteten av att förändra kunder, leverantörer, arbetsstyrkan, regleringar, etc. och du har en bild av den utmaning som dagens ledningsgrupper möter.

Traditionellt har ledningen delat in organisationen i mindre, mer hanterbara områden. Målsättningen är att maximera prestationen hos varje del. Den globala förbättringen antas att vara lika med summan på de lokala förbättringarna.

Fel! TOC hävdar att en förändring på de flesta variablerna i en organisation kommer endast att ha liten effekt på den globala prestationen - på den sista raden. Det finns mycket få variabler, kanske endast en där en betydande förbättring i lokal prestation orsakar en betydande förbättring i global prestation. En sådan variabel kallas för ”en begränsning”. Du kan jämföra den med den svagaste länken i en kedja. Jämför: Gantt Schema.

Stegen i Teorin om begränsningar. angreppssätt

Essensen med TOC angreppssätt är att om du önskar att uppnå mer av ditt satta mål, måste du:

1. Identifiera dina begränsning.
2. Fokusera på begränsningarna. Ett företag måste först veta dess mål och de nödvändiga villkoren för prestation. Därefter måste företaget identifiera begränsningen (-arna), det som begränsar nivån av prestationen av detta mål.
3. Fullfölj det/Gå hela vägen. En process med kontinuerlig förbättring:

   1. Identifiera begränsningen.

   2. Utforska den.

   3. Underordna alla andra verksamheter till det nödvändigaste för att bearbeta begränsningen.

   4. Om det efter  #2 och #3 ggrs ökad kapacitet är nödvändigt att möta marknadsefterfrågan, lyft upp (eskalera) begränsningen.

   5. Gå tillbaka till #1, men låt inte tröghet bli systemets begränsning.
