"The Goal"이란 책을 읽으셨습니까? 허비(Herbie)를 기억하십니까? Eliyahu Goldratt의 제약이론 모델은 생각하는 방법에 관한 Goldratt 박사의 실용적인 작업의 산물이다. 많은 책에서 Goldratt 박사는 특별한 사고프로세스와 그 응용사례를 기술하였다.
 

제약이론에 있어서의 원인과 결과

TOC 개념의 중심에는 인과의 법칙에 대한 인식이 있다. 비교: 특성요인도 [Cause and Effect Diagram]. TOC 사고 프로세스는 지식을 얻기위해 원인과 결과 그리고 우리의 경험과 직관을 결합하는 일련의 단계를 제공한다. TOC는 입증가능한 철학이다. 우리가 어떻게 생각해야 하는지 앎으로써 우리 주변의 세계를 더 잘 이해할 수 있다 ; 더 나은 이해를 통해 개선을 할 수 있다.
 

조직은 사람, 장비, 방법, 재료와 측정 등으로 이루어진 하나의 복잡한 그물망이다. 이러한 세부적인 복잡성은 복잡하기 그지 없다. 그것에 변화하는 고객, 공급자, 작업인력, 규제 등의 역동적인 복잡성을 더하게 되면, 오늘날 경영진이 직면하고 있는 도전적인 상황을 상상할 수 있을 것이다.

전통적으로 경영진은 조직을 더 작고 관리가능한 단위로 분할하였다. 그러한 목적은 각 부문의 성과를 극대화하기 위한 것이다 전체적인 개선은 부분적인 개선의 합과 동등하다고 가정하였다.

그러나 그것은 잘못된 것이다! TOC는 한 조직의 대부분의 변수들 중의 하나의 변화는 전체 성과에 단지 작은 영향을 미친다고 주장한다. 부분적인 성과에서 의미있는 개선이 전체적인 성과의 의미있는 개선을 일으키는 변수는 매우 적다고 주장한다. 그러한 하나의 변수를 "제약조건"이라고 부른다. 그것은 사슬에서 가장 약한 연결고리에 비교할 수 있다. 비교: Gantt Chart [갠트 챠트].

제약이론의 단계. 접근

TOC 접근의 본질은 더 많은 목표를 달성하고자 한다면 다음과 같이 해야만 한다는 것이다 :

1. 당신의 제약조건을 확인한다.
2. 제약조건에 집중한다. 기업은 기업의 목표와 성취를 위한 필요조건을 최우선으로 알아야한다. 그런 다음 목표의 성취수준을 제한하는 제약조건을 확인해야 한다.
3. 실행 지속적인 개선과정 :

   1. 제약조건을 확인한다.

   2. 그것을 활용한다.

   3. 모든 운영을 제약조건을 이용하기 위한 필요조건으로 종속시킨다.

   4. 2번째와 3번째 단계 후에 좀 더 많은 역량이 시장의 수요를 충족시키고 제약조건을 높이기 위해 필요하다.

   5. 1단계로 돌아가서 타성이 시스템의 제약조건이 되지 않도록 한다.
