비즈니스 모델링이란 무엇인가?

변화와 개선이 필요한 곳을 정확히 확인하는 것은 조직의 전반적인 성패에 가장 중요한 것이다. 변화가 전체 프로세스에 어떻게 영향을 미치는 지에 대한 명확한 이해없이 비즈니스 프로세스의 개선 변경을 시도할 경우 상당한 위험이 따른다. 그러므로 매니저들이 그들의 비즈니스 프로세스와 프로세스의 변화가 회사 전체에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 이해하도록 도움이 필요하다.

비즈니스 모델링 방법은 비즈니스 프로세스의 모델을 만드는 기법이다. 비즈니스 모델은 비즈니스 활동과 협업이라는 용어로 비즈니스 프로세스와 전략 등을 표현하는 방식을 제공하여, 비즈니스 프로세스와 그 프로세스의 참여자를 더 잘 이해할 수 있게 해준다. 모델은 문서처리와 복잡함을 이해하고 의사소통하는데 도움이 된다. 다양한 각도에서 비즈니스 프로세스를 문서화함으로써, 비즈니스 모델은 매니저들이 그들의 작업환경을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다.
 

시뮬레이션 소프트웨어

시뮬레이션 소프트웨어의 도움으로, 매니저들은 이전과는 달리 획기적으로 그들의 비즈니스 프로세스를 이해할 수 있다. 이러한 유형의 소프트웨어는 그래프를 활용하는 시스템을 통해 작업의 흐름을 보여줄 수 있다. 매니저들이 어디에 문제가 있는지 명확히 볼 수 있게 해주고, 어떻게 그 문제점을 개선할지에 대한 암시를 준다. 일단 문제영역이 확인되면, 사용자가 원하는 변수의 변화를 위해 소프트웨어를 활용할 수 있다. 시뮬레이션을 다시 운영하면, 변화의 영향을 즉시 볼 수 있다. 이러한 방식으로, 비용위험을 감수하며 실제 세계의 시행착오법을 사용하지 않고 기업은 컴퓨터환경에서 그들의 비즈니스 프로세스를 변화시킬 수 있다.
 

비즈니스 모델링과 오퍼레이션 리서치 (OR, Operations Research)

비즈니스 시뮬레이션은 1950년대에 오퍼레이션 리서치로부터 시작되었다. 저렴하고 강력해지는 컴퓨터와 사용자 친화적인 소프트웨어의 도움으로, 비즈니스 모델링 기법은 전문적 지식이 없는 매니저들이 그들의 의사결정과정을 지원하기 위해 다양한 옵션과 시나리오를 시도할 수 있게 해주고 있다.

비즈니스 모델링 기법의 사용증가에 또 다른 공헌을 한 것은 급속히 변화하는 비즈니스 환경이다. 현실세게에서는 신제품 사용을 시도해 볼 만큼의 충분한 시간이 없고, 실수가 발생될 경우 수정하는 것은 많은 비용이 소요된다.

비즈니스 모델링과 시뮬레이션의 일반적인 활용:

• 재무계획, 대차대조표와 손익계산서에 관한 의사결정의 영향을 계량화.
• 위기관리, 수익성과 특정 유형의 리스크 사이에 균형을 결정하고 측정하며 관리.
• 예측, 과거 자료를 분석하고, 미래의 시나리오와 추세를 예측하는 데 활용.
• 비즈니스 프로세스 모델링. 프로세스, 과업, 프로세스 단계를 필요한 자원에 시각적으로 맵핑.
