From my perspective, yield/revenue management touches not only the revenue of a company but is one of the most efficient ways in reflecting a strategy on regional level. It turns strategies into action by translating goals into results. In a hotel, for instance, revenue management determines the customer segments which frequent the property and its outlets, giving other departments the opportunity to adapt to their individual needs and allocate their resources in a more efficient way.
