Group Time Management Excercise: Time Bandits

A well known time management excercise is called "Time Bandits". The generic process is as follows:
  1. You give a list of common time wasters to a group and ask each person to tick the ones that affected them in the last year or so.
  2. Ask for a volunteer to take notes of the rest of the workshop.
  3. Each person is asked to briefly explain what is the most severe timewaster for him/her and why. The group may give short advices and solutions at the end of each presentation.
  4. The person who took notes emails them among the participants.
Examples of typical time bandits are:
  • Inefficient Work Processes
  • Electronic Communication
  • Unproductive Meetings
  • Various Interruptions
  • Disorganized Work Space
