Hiring Cyber Security Expert or Company

🔥NEW Being part of a managerial position in a company means choosing things. These choices influence the future of the company. So I try my best to get the best advice before taking any decisions. Right now I need help.
Recent cyber attacks everywhere have made us aware we should invest in cybersecurity. We actually haven't invested yet. But we have decided. We are torn between hiring an expert and hiring a cyber security consulting company.
When compared the external company seems to costs less per month. But someone told me that having an expert in-house will be so much better. I am seeking advice everywhere. Any opinion on this will be helpful.
