Indeed tacit knowledge has not been given its due (what it deserves) in general management practise. In an environment where there is inadequate availability of data, one way by which managers could do better to employ tacit knowledge is maneuvering management ideas. In another way managers could build up explicit knowledge as recorded data ( providing a source of information/knowledge) is comparatively analysed with anticipated tacit knowledge in making judgments about customer choice and the factors that influence that. Tacit Knowledge in Private and Government Organizations

I think that tacit knowledge can be acquired to some extent in private organisations. People who work in private organisations can exploit the possibility of developing this kind of knowledge, because private companies are free from red tapism and bureaucracy. However more efforts should have to be made for people working in government agencies, because they are so rigid and reluctant to change.
