SWOT Analysis for British Airways and Ryan Air
Robert, Entrepreneur, United Kingdom, Member
Would anybody be able to suggest some key points to include under SWOT for the above firms.
I'm having problems keeping it short and succinct as well as assessing what are actually relative strengths and weaknesses.

British Airways/ryan Air

- BA Strengths : Multiple locations; global partnerships (one world alliance); strong brand; multiple aircraft types - allows diversification; loyalty programs
- BA Weaknesses: Poor cost advantage versus low cost carriers; too many aircraft types (high maintenance costs); extra levels of management; multiple locations served (local, regional, national, international)
- RA Strengths: New programs quickly implemented; one aircraft type, simple training for pilots; low cost tickets; focused on hubs; newest aircraft, low maintenance costs; flat organization structure?
- RA Weaknesses: Few frills, no business class; limited or no flights for business/long-haul flights; no global partnerships; limited locations (restricted to key European cities).
Hope this helps. Not sure it is the best analysis. In Canada, I would be comparing Air Canada (British Airways) versus West Jet (Ryan Air).
