New 12manage Look & Feel...

	          		In response to requests of members our team is proud to present a brand new look & feel of 12manage today (Feb 14nd, 2019).

The main change is in the background color of the pages, which changed from ivory to plain white.

We hope 12manage is now looking fresher, more modern and it will be easier for you to study the centers on management methods and models.
Take a look around and see for yourself.

													Do not like it. It does not give an impression of either modern or fresh to me.

Presumably some members commented that they didn't like the ivory. But:

1. Black on white is a combination that is not good for the eye. Particularly if there is a lot of white space. The human eye is attracted to light and therefore may not physically see something on the page.

2. The white is stark & glaring and less easy to look at. Which is why I prefer writing on legal-yellow pads rather than white.

3. The ivory background gave an impression of a quality paper, not a dated one. The stark white gives an impression of a cheap photo-copy paper.

													@Maurice Hogarth: Thank you for your reaction. Indeed we got quite a few reactions like that over time, with many members agreeing we have a most informative site but we need to modernize the user interface etc.

You have a point in saying that the ivory background was aimed at giving a perception of quality paper (like parchment). At the time of starting 12manage the intention of the ivory background was precisely that. And of course we want to be and remain a quality platform that offers reliable information about any management issue or approach. But isn't it the reliability of the content that matters most in the end?

We now decided to move on to the white background, which is also more what also everybody else seems to be doing. So there must be good reasons for that. However, if many people agree with you and you get a lot of positive ratings for your reaction, we will reconsider...

A tip if your personal preference is not so white / bright then you might adjust your screen a little bit. Some screens even have the ability to adjust automatically to day/night circumstances.

				                Hire a Younger UI Designer

													Somehow this look and feel (after revision) still reminds me of my generation’s (I'm over 50) computer screen (think in the 90's), perhaps it just reflects your age and mindset.

Suggest that the new interface be designed by a younger generation UI designer, reference modern design style (such as the thousands of Wordpress styles being offered).

													Too sterile in colour, strains my eyes (nothing to do with brightness). Much preferred the ivory.

Not even close to being intuitive. Have you designer/s look at some of the clever websites around.

				                Minimalism in Design for Modern Look

													I appreciate the step towards change. A more modern look, namely that the page be minimalist in its design, is best for looking at information on a screen. Best of luck.

													@Jaap de Jonge: Agreed that quality-reliability of content is the most important aspect.

Ease of reading is also essential; for if it is difficult-awkward to read then the willingness to read it may be reduced; i.e. fewer readers / fewer visits?

Is fashion, fad & conformity "good reasons"? Should one join "others" because of such reasons or determine one's own house style, in line with planned organisational image?

Thank you for your tips on screen settings, I am aware of the points you note as I advise on this in respect of "speed" reading on screens.

				                Modern Look and Feel: Bigger Font Size on 12manage

													If you like a bigger font size on 12manage, you can achieve that in a simple way:
If you have a Windows PC, click: Ctrl and +
If you have a Mac, click: cmd and +

You can increase several times until you reach your preference.

You can go back in the following way:
If you have a Windows PC, click: Ctrl and -
If you have a Mac, click: cmd and -

				                12manage Layout Improved: Version 15.6

													Most of our members love the immense amount of reliable management know-how of 12manage. And sharing it with each other.

However, quite a few people  asked for layout improvements.

That's why I'm happy to announce V15.6 today, Sep 7th, 2020 offering many look and feel improvements. The most important ameliorations are:
More white space between sections.
More quiet design (removed non-necessary borders, standardized background colors of headings).
Better usability on small screens (phones).
Improved bookmark navigation (try for example this bookmark to where you can invite others to join 12manage).
Your Personal Page and Preference page have been improved (especially for phones).
New, faster navigation buttons in our Dictionary.
New layout for 12manage "App" & Search.

													Many improvements with our new version:

- Better layout on Android phones

- Better display of search results on any phone

- More modern look (e.g., rounded buttons)

- New top menu options to directly visit your SIG and Community from any page (it's under the person icon).

- Improved layout and functions in quick messages and emails to other members.
