The Importance of having a Vision (and Strategy)

Having a vision is really important as well as your strategy. But between the two, there is a priority.
It’s very important to know that vision comes first.
At some point in time when you have the right vision, the right strategy will follow. Sometimes if you can’t develop the strategy on your own, it’s possible to seek help. But you must know and understand that if you don’t have clarity on your vision, then no strategy can save you.

	How do You Strategise Without a Vision? The essence of strategy is to plan for the medium and long term. Unless you have an understanding of the end state in which you wish to arrive, it is simply not possible to effectively strategise. In my opinion strategy without a vision is an oxymoron.

	No Vision, No Strategy, No Execution @Andrew Blaine: I completely agree with you. When I feel my energy flagging, I re-read our vision and that is often all I need to re-energize. The importance of a vision and a big hairy audacious one (Collins) at that, cannot be over-emphasized. The real question though is how do you get your people to buy into your vision and own it?
