How to Overcome Status Quo Bias?
Status Quo Bias may be an inherent behavior or cognitive bias in human beings with a resistance to change.
At a
corporate level it is a major ailment. When a corporate CEO makes some visionary changes; people may show
resistance to change.
An account of
status quo bias in humans has been portrayed in the book "
Who moved my cheese" by Spencer Johnson. The essence of the book is - "Things constantly change and we must adapt".
But
HOW can we overcome status quo bias at a personal level? I think, with good self discipline and being highly effective, people can overcome status quo bias. Stephen Covey's - "
7 habits of highly effective people" tells how to be perfect as a human. This creates laxity in humans for accepting change. In my view, this is the best way of overcoming status quo bias.
