Stakeholder Mapping in Universities

I was thinking about a mechanism of generalisation and categorisation? So you could put individual stakeholders into a number of groups which require similar or same treatment? Then treat the group as a stakeholder for the purpose of your matrices.
For example, internal stakeholders might include a principal, or a generalised group of faculty heads. There may be one particular faculty head who you believe requires different treatment, so you could map him or her separately. Students could be cut in many different ways, but could apply the same principle? Externals - including potential students and suppliers could be managed in a similar way.
Just a quick thought on how I could apply this approach.
