Hard but Sweet
I agree with Dilip! Change is hard for most people; there are just a few of us who embrace change. When you assist those you are mentoring through to their breakthrough the rewards are sweet. Not necessarily for you personally, but to see someone set free is glorious!

Converting a Organization
I think that you don't need to be young. You do need an open mind and the insight of what's really important. People can change if they want to. What they need is a leader or master.
Remember: when the pupil is ready, the master will appear.
