Conditions for Self-Directed Teams
🔥 NEW While thanking all my previous colleagues who put their views on the issues of self-directed teams, I would like to discuss some ideas about the conditions and requirements for self-directed teams.
- In developing countries some HRM theories do not always apply. For instance, some motivational theories claim that "money cannot motivate employees in organizations". However, in developing countries, money does motivate employees and that is one of the major concerns in a self-directed/working team.
- Second, it also depends on the context and nature of the organization which the team works for. For example, if teams are working in a research and development organization, this kind of teams relatively appear as more self-directed/motivated teams as compared to other organizations.
- Last but not least, It also depends on the maturity of the organization, the managers, as well as the working teams. If the managers (bosses) are experienced enough and open-minded, they can create a conducive environment for a learning organization where employees can see their continuous growth and development. In such cases, there is a great possibility of being existence of self-directed/motivated teams.
