  This is largely determined by the vision, mission & culture of the organisation. However, the selection methods are: the Five Points Grading system by John Munro Fraser, the Seven Points Plan by Alex Rodgers and finally, the Competency Based Approach by Roberts.

  The most commonly used selection methods are:
- Interviews, whose aim is to determine whether the candidate is interested in the job and competent to do it.
- Tests, can be used to measure aptitude, such as competence in literacy, or personality, or psychometric tests.
