CEO is a Facilitator and Needs Followers

A new CEO must share his/her vision to the organization in order to attract followers. In the whole process, the CEO must also be ready to be led by the followers.
Carrying out a stakeholder analysis is crucial in order to understand their expectations.

The CEO as a Facilitator of Strategy Understanding

I agree with Imelda that a new CEO must share his/her vision in order to attract followers. I am not so sure I agree with the comment that the CEO must also be ready to be led by the followers. The role of a CEO is to lead - not be led. The CEO's job is to facilitate a deep understanding of the strategies that were chosen and, when change to one or more of them is necessary because of change in the external environment, she/he must facilitate an understanding of the rationale for that change. Employees will follow a leader who can effectively communicate these things.
