Five Forces not for Emerging Industries

Porter's 5 forces model - although suitable for analyzing an industry - is based on the idea of competition. In emerging industries there is little or no competition. If you think about it, there is in fact no "industry" yet.
So really this question is a little academic. It would be better to use Blue Ocean Strategy or the Disruptive Innovation model when you're analyzing such emerging industries.
