PMBOK Edition 6: What's New?
Jean-Michel de Jaeger, EMBA, PMP, SIG Leader
Edition 6 of the PMBOK from PMI was launched on September 2017. This new edition has lots of improvements based on worldwide up to date practices in Project Management, for example:
  • The addition of Agile methods with hybride life cycle including waterfall, V or W cycles, incremental/iterative and adaptative cycle adapted to the product or service to develop.
  • Continuous best practice collect and capitalisation during all the project cycle, captured in a new process "Manage Project knowledge".
  • A new process on Risk Management "Implement Risk Responses".
This new edition emphasis the Project Manager's role into the business case responsibility to do the right project rather than "only" to manage it right.

We will update the PMBOK page soon to incorporate the improvements.
To add on these PPM thematics, the PMI launched end of 2017. At the beginning of 2018, three (3) other new standards were released:
- Standard on Programme Management (PgMP) edition 4,
- Standard on Portfolio Management (PfMP) edition 4, and
- Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3. Edition 3.
All these standards are aligned and new versions of exam credentials are launched progressively.

IPMA New Standard ICB4
Jean-Michel de Jaeger, EMBA, PMP, SIG Leader
Within the IPMA sphere, the International Project Management Association, a new standard is launched too, this is the ICB 4. This one is interesting, as it reduces the number of competencies in technical disciplines to improve the capacity of project managers to cover the Programme and Portfolio approaches.
Surely this new perspective will be widely adopted in corporate organizations as the needs for it are more and more obvious to the top management.
This European way of PPM practices is including the human dimension with assessors in all the credentials levels D, C, B and A and reflects more the real life of PPM Managers in their day to day life.
