Your Life is a Process

I prefer to view human life as a process
. When I expressed this at a management meeting, a (male) colleague reverted that he viewed his life as a project, which immediately triggered another colleague to comment "... and your wife is the project leader".
If life indeed was a project, who is the project sponsor, who'll get credit for achievements (or punishment for lack thereof), who assesses different toll gates throughout the project? Are there any toll gates, or just mile stones?
