What is Agility and Why is it Important?
In common parlance, agility is nothing but being able to quickly adapt to changes.
The 21st century is characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (acronym: VUCA). Combined, these 4 can be described as a “Tumultuous World”. Obviously, being able to respond swiftly in such world is a key capability for survival and sustainability.
Agility is the ability to develop and respond towards changes. It is the capability to craft changes.
It is the ability to respond to changes in order to derive advantages to cope with a dynamic environment. In other words, it is considered as the capability to adapt swiftly and move toward the shifting requirements in the external environment.
It is the readiness to respond to changing demands.
At the time of complexity and turbulence, having agile characteristics offers multiple advantages in adapting actions/strategies.
