Where are Projects in Organization Chart?
Ayman, Analyst, Kuwait, Member
In some large company, with different lines of business, whenever a project is undertaken, the main decisions and planning will typically be carried out by:
• The GM or Finance Manager of the line of business, or
• The central executive committee or CEO, COO, CFO.
But where in the group’s organization chart is the project team?

Where are Project Teams Located in an Organization?

Project teams can be found in various parts of an organization depending upon the nature of the project (e.g., engineering, finance, human resources, information technology, etc.).
Projects can also include multi-disciplinary teams, especially where projects cross two or more business areas.
Many organizations also have a "project management office" that tracks projects and ensures common project management standards are followed.
In some organizations, the project team is located in the operations area of the line of business and the people-side of the project is located in human resources (or corporate services). Financial reporting for projects can be included as part of the project team, it can also be part of Corporate Financial Services.
