Ten Schools of thought
Craig Smith, Australia, Member
It is not a case of which business applies the schools of thought but how the businesses apply the schools. The Ten schools of thought are a tool for a business at any stage of development to use in taking an opportunity in the market place.
The Ten Schools of thought have a foundation of the three classical schools of thought being 'Design, Planning & Positioning' to begin the development of the organisations strategy.
Any business starting with the classical school will look at conducting a SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity & Threats) analysis to identify and match up what their internal environment is with the external opportunities. Once identified the business can then program or plan their strategy to position themselves to have to best opportunity to exploit the chosen market.
The other schools of thought further develop this exploitation through their own characteristics, being either through the entrepreneurial, learning, power, etc. schools of thought.
