I personally do not have much faith that theory Y is real in practice. May be happening in highly professionalised industries. But as we all know human ingenuity is always there. Theory Y is not a Farce

See in my view thats the whole thing that promotions are related to who's in the limelight.
In Japan most individuals stick to one job throughout their lives! Why? Because promotions are based mostly on seniority, so people do not want to leave a firm because they know they will get a promotion. That takes the ego actor out of play. In Japan, I read during research, sometimes they have to make new posts just to promote ppl. Because of this Japan operates on Theory Y and the Kaizan concept. It is not a farce. Its happening. And we can see how much Japan has advanced because of it.
