Basic Warehousing Functions

The basic warehousing functions traditionally have been considered to be as follows (Tompkins and White, 1984):
- Receiving;
- Identification and sorting;
- Dispatching to storage;
- Placing in storage;
- Storage;
- Retrieval from storage;
- Order accumulation;
- Packing;
- Shipping
- Record keeping.
