The Link Between Transformational Leadership (IC) and the Johari Window (Facade)
🔥
NEW A popular and well liked leadership philosophies is
Transformational Leadership (TL). This concept is all about leading people and disowning your self-interests for the benefit of the people you lead and thereby the organisation. TL is pillared by what is known as the 4 I's, inspirational motivation (IM), intellectual simulation(IS), idealized influence (II) and individual consideration (IC).
In my view, there is a
correlation between Individual Consideration and Facade to enhance interpersonal relationships between me as a leader and people I lead or between themselves to enhance team work. IC is about understanding the aspirations, interests of the people you lead so that you can help them achieve such while they are meeting the goals given to them.
This is done by a leader by opening his/her part that employees don't know about me as leader - that which is known to me (Facade). This is to encourage transparency, trust etc. between me and my employees/followers. In doing this, employees will be encouraged to open up too and thereby I begin to know who they are and why they are, for example, suddenly behaving in a particular way. This will, for example, help me to not expect a superb performance when I know exactly that there are problematic things happening in their social space due to what has been shared in our conversations.
Therefore there is a correlation between individual consideration (IC) and the Facade area of the Johari Window.
