The Roles of Top and Middle Management in Change

Top management must commit itself in words and deeds to accomplish the planned change. We must go more for substance rather than form. Engagement is necessary and the role of middle management is crucial as facilitators and communicators.

All Should be Involved in the Change

I agree with the fact that there is an important role assigned to middle management, but they shouldn't be the ONLY communicators of change.
In an open bureaucracy this certainty doesn't effect change expediently since only assigned 'middle management' will be able to bring change feedback and reactions to top management, while I believe all should be evolved in that part of change. Kotter states, 'communicate the vision', thus the more it is communicated, the stronger the interaction and the alliance.
