Why a Leader Must Make Informed Decisions
Ramos said: 'No authority shall rule over reason, on the contrary the mind must prevail over the authority to manage it'.
Therefore a wise leader should consider others’ opinion, especially the views of experts, and then make the best decision, which may increase his or her authority.

Any Manager Must Make Informed and Educated Decisions
I agree with you that making any decision based on facts or information is important. Otherwise you’re not making business decisions, but you‘re gambling.
One step further: any manager or leader should make EDUCATED decisions under normal circumstances that is. When a person makes an educated decision about something, she has learned about the subject before making up her mind — she has been educated or educated herself, and she understands the subject well or even completely. A heck of a reason for visiting 12manage before you make any major business decision to look for methods, models, and ideas from others 😃
In my opinion, the extent to which a decision has to be informed and educated does depend on the decision-making context / environment. And the risk attitude of the decision-maker is also playing a role.
You might want to take a look at an earlier very good discussion about the role of gut feeling in decision-making.
