Any idea what is the role of Human Resource Management in meeting strategic challenges posed by globalisation? Thanks.

Globalization in HR

You (HR) should surely increase the knowledge of differences between continents, countries... Their customs, education, languages, skills and behaviors... In order to facilitate the team building of different and often far away members, and to increase cooperation of employees coming from all parts of the globe.
Probably you will confront more conflicts and difficulties in the evaluation processes.
You must "go international" in all possible ways. One should also understand the markets you are coping with.
All of this means involves a lot of learning in many directions, from legal and job aspects to economics trends and consumers.

Globalization of HR May Not be Needed

Global HR initiatives need to focus on local issues and acting local as the environment, including legal, policy, social and technological environment, is different in different countries. Peoples' customs and value systems are also different.
One has to think global but act local.
In the process some global managers will be emerging who will have the ability work in a cross-cultural environment. But we may not need to implement a global template for global talent generation. You need organization specific initiatives, based on the needs and vision and current complexity.

Human Resources Global Leadership Perspective
David Wilson, Manager, Canada, SIG Leader
HR global leadership needs to ensure all people in the organization understand the need to work together in the best interests of the organization. By ensuring employees are aware of corporate goals, environmental factors, fiscal needs and people values.
HR can help employees at all levels focus on work values, customs, priorities and goal to ensure people are valued, respected, work as a united team, feel safe and learn to handle diversity and change. HR needs to develop people and build their skills and abilities to handle workplace challenges and community needs across all levels and locations regardless of social and cultural needs. 7-8-2019
