The Role of the HR Department in M&A Should Be Increased

I concur with Tom. Knowledge, which is mainly in the head of employees (knowledge workers, smart workers), is now the main source of both competitive advantage and core competences. That's why HR should play a dominant role in M&A as strategic partner and change agent if synergies are ever to be achieved.
